Rico Sanchez was born on July 30th, 1959 in Skopje, Yugoslavia. Already as a small 4 year old boy, Ljupco played with a small broom that stood for a guitar and sang folk songs to it. He was popular and well known in the neighborhood and everyone knew that one day this singing boy would turn his passion into a profession. At the age of 14 he became the youngest member of the folk ensemble "Mirce Acev", with this group he went on his first big tour to Germany, Switzerland, Italy and France.
During a chance visit to a Spanish bar in Düsseldorf's old town, he hears music blaring from the speakers, which immediately excites him.
